ABSTRACT

Soil loss is a major causal factor for the critical watershed of a mountainous region. It is performed to estimate the soil erosion rate of Charnawati Water-shed, Nepal using the revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE), integrating remote sensing data and geographic information system (GIS) techniques. Its erosion rate is 58.55% in the low zone area and approximately 18% area on the verge of high-to-very-severe intensity classes. The watershed had scattered high severity of soil loss. This study identifies vulnerable areas and soil erosion. That information will be useful for the conservation of catchment areas supporting sustainable watershed and ecological management planning.
