ABSTRACT

The use of satellite data and geographic information systems (GIS) in water management science is discussed in this chapter. Satellite remote sensing and GIS have played a vital role in managing the earth’s resources. Various satellite devices, such as the digital elevation model (DEM) and multispectral sensors, provide precise information on the state of the atmosphere at a specific location. Using GIS and modeling, all sorts of efficient strategies can be put into practice that have the best efficiency. In this chapter, the basics of GIScience are reviewed in light of the recent research in this scientific field.
