ABSTRACT

Remote sensing techniques have brought a new dimension in the watershed study. Solani watershed of Upper Ganga drainage basin was morphometri-cally analyzed to delineate the prioritization of subwatersheds (SWS) for soil conservation. Dendritic to parallel drainage pattern was noticed with a stream order ranged up to fourth order. The watershed has a coarser drainage pattern with a drainage density of 0.93 to 1.07 km/km2. This watershed falls under the normal watershed category as the bifurcation ratio ranged from 1.66 to 2.56. The overall analysis identified SWS-3 as the most vulnerable SWS in Solani watershed and should get the most importance for soil management.
