ABSTRACT

Nanowires have been considered as a promising candidate for application in metal-sulfur batteries due to their one-dimensional and high surface area features, offering shortened electron pathways, high ion-accessible sites, and the excellent adsorption/absorption capability of polysulfides. This chapter aims to provide an overview of research in nanowires with their applications in metal-sulfur batteries, mainly focusing on lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. It starts with a brief introduction to Li-S batteries and nanowires, followed by the advantages of nanowires performed in Li-S batteries. Applications of nanowires in Li-S batteries have been further discussed in detail. A perspective regarding their usage and the potential solution in this area has been presented at the end.
