ABSTRACT

Artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive computing have attracted attention in all areas of human life these days. AI has opened up new and more innovative avenues for management of its own form. According to various reports, accessibility is an area ripe for social transformation, where smart use of AI technology can transform the everyday lives of people with disabilities. An AI researcher who has worked with the apex body, led a team researching the combination of human–computer interaction and AI to meet the technological needs of people with disabilities. There are many high-profile examples of AI algorithms and other technologies that complicate matters such as racial differences between people. Accessing technology with the right tools is a very important factor. Healthcare is one such domain where the world is making rapid progress by incorporating AI capabilities to help medical professionals diagnose diseases, provide better treatments, and thus improve patient outcomes. AI expectations should be mediated by stakeholders concerning what AI can contribute. This chapter brings in an organized review of the literature on AI for accessibility and inclusion that will be extremely beneficial for the researchers in this domain.
