ABSTRACT

In recent years, China's highway construction has achieved remarkable development. However, the evaluation index system of highway construction resource and environment carrying capacity are still in the exploration stage. There are still shortcomings in the selection and weighting of key indexes. According to the characteristics of resource and environmental conditions required for highway construction, typical indexes were selected. Based on the expert scoring method and analytic hierarchy process (AHP), our research constructed a highway construction resource and environment carrying capacity evaluation index system. This index system was divided into 2 major categories: construction conditions and ecological conditions, including 6 aspects: terrain, soil erosion, land resources, vegetation, animal habitats and tundra, subdivided into 9 indexes. The results of our research showed that the northern coastal provinces had better resource and environment conditions for highway construction, and the southwestern highland provinces had poorer highway construction conditions. Our study has important significance for highway construction planners.
