ABSTRACT

In order to study the failure modes and characteristics of single-column pier beam bridges, the accident damage characteristics of different single-column pier beam bridges were collected. By combining the existing research on single-column pier beam bridges, the failure modes of single-column pier beam bridges can be summarized as follows: (1) overturning instability; (2) support failure; (3) shearing, breaking and erosion of pier column. Its main features were: (1) The beam body overturned as a whole; (2) The torsional moment was unevenly distributed; (3) The beam body slipped; (4) The column body eccentrically failed; (5) The upper structure slid longitudinally.
