ABSTRACT

The characteristics of limestone were investigated and analyzed under the geological conditions of Yunnan. In view of the situation that coarse aggregate contains many rust-dyed particles and recrystallized calcite particles, the properties of special aggregate particles and their influence on the properties of asphalt mixture were studied, and the control standards for the content of special particles in aggregate production were recommended. The results show that the soft stone particles proportion of recrystallized calcite is the highest and the proportion of rust-dyed particles is similar to that of ordinary limestone particles. The adhesion of rust-dyed particles and recrystallized calcite particles to asphalt is 2 grade lower than that of ordinary limestone particles. The addition of rust-dyed particles and recrystallized calcite particles reduced the high temperature deformation resistance and water damage resistance of asphalt mixture, and had little influence on the low temperature cracking resistance.
