ABSTRACT

Snow-melting asphalt pavement is the addition of salt materials with lowering freezing point of the asphalt mixture to realize the function of snow-melting and ice-suppressing asphalt pavement. In this study, the optimal compatibility design plan of each component of the snow melting salt was determined through analysis. Polymer-coating technology was used to encapsulate the snow melting salt. It enables a “slow release” effect in the long-term service state of the road. The paper analyzes and studies the ice melting performance of slow-release pavement snow-melting agent and its influence on the road performance of asphalt mixture. The results show that the slow-release composite snow melting salt has good ice melting ability and slow-release effect. It can significantly reduce the bonding strength between the ice layer and the asphalt pavement, and maintain the ability to resist freezing and thawing cycles for a long time. The incorporation of slow-release snowmelt salt has a certain impact on the performance of asphalt mixture, but various road performances meet the requirements of the specification.
