ABSTRACT

To improve the passenger travel efficiency and the operation level of public transport, companies under the current public transport dispatching mode practice real-time data transmission through the application of the 5G network and vehicle networking, and the operation speed of public transport vehicles is optimized based on the real-time number of passengers at the bus station. Considering the cost of passenger waiting time, passenger travel time, vehicle running time, and time-varying speed, a real-time bus-scheduling model based on user optimization and system optimization is constructed, and an example is used to verify the effectiveness of the model. The proposed real-time bus dispatching system can reduce the total waiting time of passengers by 7.11%, the total travel time of passengers by 3.42%, the vehicle operation cost by 14.00%, the passenger travel cost by 5.02% under the user optimization, and the total system cost by 7.98% under the system optimization. The real-time bus dispatching system and model fully consider the actual needs of passengers and bus companies and have a significant effect on improving passenger travel efficiency and bus operation level.
