ABSTRACT

The Fifth-Generation New Radio (5G NR) communications framework provides an entirely new approach to cellular communications. With its invention, many new technological innovations are supported by it, such as scalable waveforms, multiple access schemes, and service multiplex across wide bandwidths. It also supports existing services while being forward-compatible with future requirements. Multiple-input, multiple-output, or MIMO, is also an important technology that is being used in 5G. It can reduce bit errors, improve signal range, and lower power consumption. Although 5G wireless requires more complex signal processing and the ability to handle a much higher data rate than previous protocols, one of the keys to its success is antenna design. This paper reviews two kinds of 5G MIMO antenna designs and one type of AI design that can make designing 5G antennas easier.
