ABSTRACT

Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) is an important theoretical tool for measuring the spatial effectiveness of built environments and is one of the important research areas of architecture. Due to a large amount of initial capital investment, high maintenance cost, complex management and negative impact on urban traffic, the construction of Mega-Event Sports Venue (MESV) is often considered a money-losing business. This paper describes the definition, characteristics, and existing problems of MESVs, systematically introduces MESVs from the perspective of sports development management, and presents the development, research methods of POE, as well as space efficiency evaluation of the built environment. The significance of POE for MESV is proposed. Finally, taking the Yanqing Competition Zone of the Winter Olympic Games as an example, the feasibility research of POE of MESV is discussed from the aspects of management and operation mechanism.
