ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology has evolved significantly in the last few decades with its applications in different fields including the food industry. The technology is swiftly finding its way to replace most of traditional packaging. The nano-based food packing provides wide prospects from actively controlling the food spoilage to enhancing nutritional and sensory parameters in the package. Several nanomaterials such as nanoclay, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), nano silicon dioxide, etc., are widely being used in many products to improve their functional properties. The nanotechnology in food packaging in different forms is gaining wide popularity but still got some limitations for the consumer acceptance.
