ABSTRACT

Many marine microorganisms like microalgae, bacteria, and fungi can produce various high and low molecular weight biosurfactants. Low molecular weight biosurfactants include lipopeptides, glycolipids, glycopeptides, phospholipids, and so on. High molecular weight biosurfactants include polysaccharides like proteins, lipoproteins, fatty acids and their complexes, and lipopolysaccharides complexes. Low molecular weight biosurfactants are used for form lower surface tension, and high molecular weight biosurfactants are used as emulsifiers. Bioemulsifiers are used in many cosmetics products like sunscreen, face wash, shampoo, toothpaste, skin moisturizers, and so on, and within this range, cosmetics can be categorized as synthetic, semi-synthetic, and natural. Synthetic and semi-synthetic cosmetics cause a problem in degradation, and longtime use of this kind of cosmetic creates a problem for skin, so it is necessary to find an alternative. Natural cosmetics are safe, biocompatible, eco-friendly, and appropriate for a large range of applications like skin, makeup, and hair care.
