Research progress of nitrogen removal in low C/N wastewater by constructed wetlands: Mechanism and influencing factors

Constructed wetland is an effective and low-cost method to treat low C/N wastewater. There are many factors that can influence the performance of constructed wetland. This paper elucidates the main microbial mechanism of nitrogen removal in low C/N wastewater by constructed wetlands, analyses the influencing factors of nitrogen removal and summarizes the improved methods. In addition, the challenges during removal process are prospected.
