ABSTRACT
The arch pylon cable-stayed bridge possesses the advantages of both arch and cable-stayed bridges, which exhibits not only reasonable mechanical properties, but also a good landscape effect. The properties of arch-pylon cable-stayed bridges with different alignments of arch axis were analyzed in this paper. Then, the mechanical properties of the bridge with different alignments and the corresponding applicable condition were put forward based on comparative analysis. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of arch-pylon cable-stayed bridges with different alignments of the arch axis were described. The elliptical arch-pylon is a type of reasonable alignment that could be recommended for an arch-pylon cable-stayed bridge.
