ABSTRACT

Subgrade quality inspection is a method of subgrade delivery acceptance. So the accuracy of the inspection directly affects the progress of the project and the quality of operations. Therefore, the selection of inspection methods is particularly important. The current construction standard of highway in China is based on the traditional quality inspection methods, which have problems like damage the roadbed or took too much time. A portable drop hammer deflector and Beckman beam method combined detection were used to test the quality of the road surface, and the correlation between the static and dynamic deflection values and the static and dynamic rebound modulus was obtained. The results show that the static and dynamic deflection has a good exponential correlation and the static and dynamic rebound modulus has a good logarithmic correlation. The results also indicated that quick test methods such as PFWD could do a good job on subgrade quality inspection as well.
