ABSTRACT

The problem of left-behind children has been a hot topic in China. Especially in Southwest China, the condition of the left-behind children is more serious. From the perspective of kindergarten, this study aims to provide solutions to left-behind children's life safety and psychological problems. The status quo and problems of left-behind children from the state's perspective, the elderly, children, parents, and staff are firstly analyzed. We propose solutions from four aspects: Site selection, function determination, space design, and material access. First of all, selecting a site with a simple and safe traffic environment and site should cooperate with other buildings around the site. Based on the original functions, we have added an archive, an auditorium, a staff dormitory, a home-school cooperation space, and separate psychological counseling rooms for children and staff. In terms of space design, we concentrated all children's outdoor activities into one piece, tried to enlarge its area, and made the surrounding buildings form a state of the enclosure. At the same time, we ensure that children's activity range does not leave the sight of teachers. Design a double dormitory for teachers and childcare workers, with public space for common use. According to the local architecture, the materials are selected while ensuring quality, minimizing money, and adapting the architectural style to the local culture. They are then choosing Puchang Village, Ganluo County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province as an example. A Kindergarten is designed to express our thought for solving the problems of the left-behind children.
