ABSTRACT

In order to improve the stability of the embankment or prevent cracking on pavement, the reinforced materials such as geogrid, has been used on multiple areas. However, the proper way to use this kind of materials has become a problem. In order to understand the friction characteristic under static and dynamic load, laboratory tests were conducted. The test results indicated that the normal stress is the key factor to the shear strength of the reinforced soil, and shear strength of the interface develops with the displacement. Moreover, the pull-out force under dynamic load increased with normal load, the shear strength increased as the frequency and amplitude increased.
