ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the pressure on resources and increased demand on local and global environments, coupled with the need and expectation to improve residents’ overall quality of life, is high. How to respond to these challenges with local, regional, and international reach becomes important for the city and the local governments. Green building thus became the center of attention. Because of its unclear concept and wide range, the research group focused on its evaluation criterion—active house. To explore the potential factors and profound significance of active housing as a new direction of future housing development, the project summarized the existing problems of active housing through qualitative analysis, literature review, and case analysis and proposed the evaluation system of active housing based on environmental protection, energy consumption, and people-oriented concern. Nowadays, there are three main blocks to promote active housing: short development time, low popularity, low high-tech level, and high construction cost. Although these problems are inevitable, active housing is still the direction of future housing development plans.
