ABSTRACT

X-rays are requested following a clinical suspicion, where the image serves to confirm the diagnosis. Always judge the image yourself. When requesting X-ray images, make sure to specify the clinical findings and suspicion, the area to be imaged and, if applicable, non-routine views. Some fractures of the carpal bones can only become visible with special views (i.e. carpal tunnel view for fractures of the hook of hamate, Bett’s view for a clear view of the CMC1 joint).
