ABSTRACT
The pollution of water bodies is an alarming situation worldwide. Although various techniques have been employed for the decontamination of water bodies, but there has to be some technique that not only efficiently decontaminates the water body but also maintains an ecological balance between various flora and fauna present in it. The development of an ecological floating bed (EFB) is one such alternative. EFB very efficiently treats the wastewater and is a sustainable environment friendly technique. The main idea is based on the self-cleaning ability of nature. This technology does not yield any toxic by-product. This chapter focuses on the various pre requites for the development of an EFB and its working.
