ABSTRACT

Due to the lack of a clear definition of an ecological channel, the research on ecological channel evaluation is still in an early exploratory stage. This paper established an ecological channel evaluation system based on the Yangtze River, the Pearl River, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and the Huaihe River, which includes four aspects and a total of 13 indexes to evaluate ecological development, including navigation, ecological, landscape, and economic functions. The entropy method was used to estimate the weights of individual indexes. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is taken as an example to assess the ecological development using the proposed evaluation system.
