ABSTRACT

The concept of sustainable development requires the coordinated development of the environment and the economy to maximize comprehensive benefits. This paper takes the Wanjiang urban belt as the research area to construct an environmental economic system evaluation index system for the Wanjiang urban belt. Using the coordination degree and coordinated development degree model to quantitatively evaluate the coordination and evolution characteristics of the environmental economic system in the Wanjiang urban belt from 2004 to 2011, the results show that the average coordination degree is 07848. The overall coordination level of the system shows a general level of coordination, showing a trend of “down-up-down”, with a large range of changes in each year; the coordination development degree shows a trend of first rising and then declining, ranging from 06432 to 07614, roughly in the primary coordinated development.
