ABSTRACT

This paper aims to probe the relationship between urban park spatial design and user behaviour. Being a symbol of the cultural heritage and humanistic spirit of a city, urban park not only improves the living environment but also provides an important place for people to communicate with each other. Therefore, it is urgent to construct urban parks. Taking Jingxian Park, Jimei College Village, Jimei District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province as an example and adopting literature analysis method, field research method, questionnaire survey method and other research methods, this paper presents suggestions for the reconstruction of the park and proposes the urban park facilities design as well as space layout design principles after making research on Jingxian Park and learning about the logic of users’ behaviour at different ages through questionnaire surveys. It is hoped that urban parks can meet the needs of different users, be friendly to all ages, and become a platform for people to communicate with each other. It will focus on regional style and historical culture as the spiritual core of the city and try to promote the development of urban parks in various cities in the future.
