ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the sources of secondary raw materials, both organic and inorganic wastes, to obtain materials for energy production, conversion, storage and hybrid technologies. The main ones are agricultural waste, sediments from water and wastewater treatment, municipal waste, and industrial waste. Carbon materials play a key role in energy conversion and storage devices and belong to three generations of materials for the processes under consideration. In the second part of the chapter, the main directions of obtaining carbon materials, their activation and methods of their alloying are considered. Conclusions and future perspectives are briefly presented at the end of the chapter.
