ABSTRACT

Oilseed cakes and their derived biocarbon are used for ecological restoration. Today, the demand for oilseed cakes is rising, and the different forms of oilseed cakes, such as extracts, powder, and crude forms, have been utilized in the agricultural sector to improve soil fertility and reduce pests and diseases. Oil cakes obtained from neem, groundnut, sesame, mahua, mustard, and others are now used for sustainably managing plant parasitic nematodes (PPNs). Recently, biocarbon products derived from oil cakes have been explored and used to mitigate nematodes. The different forms of oil cakes are converted into biocarbon material that increases its value and relevancy for ecological restoration. The present chapter concludes with the role of oilseed cakes in managing nematodes in vegetables, cereals, and fruit crops. It also documented the diverse application of its biocarbon material in controlling PPNs.
