ABSTRACT

Containerships are the most required ship to maritime transportation resulting from the different type of goods that can carry at the same time. As the dimensions of containership cargo holds must be multiple of the dimensions of containers, it is important to have the cargo holds fit to the hull. This work aims to develop a method that given a certain hull will determine the location of compartments, the inner hull form of cargo holds and, the bays of containerships above deck. This method is applicable to four different configurations of containerships. This project detects critical points in cargo holds where a minimal change would lead to the increasement of cargo capacity. To validate the method, general arrangements of existent containerships will be analysed, and the method will be implemented in MATLAB® to replicate the ship in a similar hull. The results obtained will be compared to the real results.
