ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses eczemas, dermatitis, and ichthyosis in children with brown skin (Fitzpatrick skin type V/FST 5). These are discussed based on clinical photographs and easy-to-read question-and-answer format. Seventeen clinical cases are discussed using 32 clinical photographs. They are contact dermatitis (allergic, irritant), Berloque dermatitis, blister beetle dermatitis, commode dermatitis, cradle cap, eczema, ichthyosis, infantile seborrhoeic dermatitis, juvenile plantar dermatosis, lichen striatus, lip lick dermatitis, napkin dermatitis, photodermatitis, phytophotodermatitis, and post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. Post-inflammatory hypopigmentation is very common in darker-skinned infants and children that may arouse parental anxiety of vitiligo.
