ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses 11 common hair and nail dermatoses we encounter in children with brown skin (Fitzpatrick skin type V/FST 5) using clinical photographs. These are discussed based on clinical photographs and easy-to-read question-and-answer format. They are acute paronychia, alopecia areata, anagen effluvium, Beau’s line, frictional alopecia, onychomadesis, longitudinal melanonychia, nail lichen planus, pincer nail (trumpet nail), telogen effluvium, and trichotillosis (hair pulling disorder).
