ABSTRACT

The gleba has uniformity in both colour and texture. The palisade structures which form the hymenium stand on fan-shaped branches of hyphae and differ from species of Lycoperdaceae along with different species of Calvatia. The macronutrients, proteins, carbohydrates and moisture contents are reported to be high in C. gigantea. Edible mushrooms are well known for their highly nutritive, less calories and low fat constituents with high water content, making them suitable for all types of persons to eat. The mushroom has essential monomers of proteins which are vital for the growth of the human body. The extraction and analysis of fatty acids and their derivatives as well as saturated and unsaturated oils has always been a major challenge in the past five to six decades and researchers and industrialists are focusing on it so as to develop a simple and potential method or technique to isolate and analyse the oils and fats in these mushrooms.
