ABSTRACT

This paper aims to present an ongoing project, focused on the maintenance of transportation infrastructures, namely, in the development of a holistic management platform to be used in the maintenance of civil engineering structures, with bridges as a starting point. Although asset management systems have long been “digital”, new tools are enabling deep transformations throughout management and field workflows. Notably, Bridge Information Models (BrIM) have been increasingly adopted and, although primarily used in the design, their known advantages should also benefit management activities during operation stage. GOA.BI project aims to incorporate BrIM models in a successful asset management system and develop transform the management workflow. Two such transformations are discussed and the main contributions of the project are discussed in herein.
