ABSTRACT

Shanghai inner ring viaduct was built in 1994, while the structural height and collision avoidance capability of percussion wall have been already inadequate for the requirements of the current specification. Consequently, it is urgent to implement renovation and regeneration project to ensure operational safety of the viaducts. For the bridge spans with slab beams, the technology of side beam and percussion walls simultaneous replacement is developed, and the percussion walls of T-beam, I-beam and composite beams is renovated by importing water-jet robot technology. In order to cooperate with the smooth implementation of the inner ring viaduct renewal, the whole operation process was reproduced on Qiqian River Bridge. Analysis results indicate that the efficiency of proposed construction technologies satisfies the design expectation and provides a basis for the smooth implementation of the inner ring renewal project.
