ABSTRACT

Las Lamas viaduct, located on the section Ambasmestas – Castro/Lamas of the A-6 highway, was built by balanced cantilever construction in the seventies with a main span 130 m long. The retrofitting and rehabilitation of the viaduct deck had as main aim the replacement of the existing vehicle containment system, which was very corroded and had to be updated to comply with the current safety regulations, but also included the concrete surfaces repairing and the demolition, reconstruction and reinforcing of the end of both deck section wings to withstand the forces transferred by the new traffic barrier system.
