ABSTRACT

Carbon allotropes such as functionalised nanostructured protective coating represent the most important concept in the area of advanced functional coating materials. Functionalised nanocontainers added into polymeric coatings can reduce corrosion on metallic surfaces. In several investigations, polymeric coatings on metallic surfaces, particularly carbon steel substrate, were modified using nanoparticles and nanocomposites to demonstrate synergistic anticorrosion capabilities and active physical barriers. The results confirmed the excellent corrosion mitigation behaviour and other consolidated qualities of the functional nanostructured carbon allotropes as anticorrosive coatings with strong economic and industrial impacts by their inclusion with different loading levels by weight (%). In addition to demonstrating cost reduction in the industrial manufacture of these paints, the tailored functional carbon allotropes also showed economic strategy for their use's overview and corrosion prevention of the surface of carbon steel.
