ABSTRACT
Autonomous Vehicles, (AVs) have become subject to trust and ethical concerns. If AVs are to be accepted and largely adopted, we need to create designs that build trust. At the heart of technologies of trust lies Explainable Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain. The aim of the chapter is to present an exploratory analysis of how Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) and Blockchain technology could leverage trust in autonomous vehicles industry. First, we present a preliminary overview of the literature related to the use of blockchain architectures and XAI models in AV. Then, we open discussion for the possibility of coupling the two technologies (Blockchain and XAI) for more robust and trustworthy AVs.
