ABSTRACT
With the rapid development of the economy, water transportation has been increasingly busy, and there has been a strong demand for vessel traffic services (VTS) using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. In order to make AI models more understandable and reliable, VTS based on explainable AI (XAI) techniques is one of the most important development directions in the recent times. In this context, this chapter summarizes intelligent techniques of VTS and applications of XAI techniques in VTS. Firstly, basic background of VTS is introduced. Next, on this basis, this chapter reviews AI techniques in VTS in intelligent prediction and intelligent perception. Finally, XAI techniques are introduced, and their applications and necessity in intelligent water transportation are discussed.
