ABSTRACT

The Internet of Things (IoT), is a system of interconnected computers, mechanical and electrical devices, and both animate and inanimate objects that are able to exchange information (Figure 9.1). Examples of the IoT include individuals with heart monitors implanted, livestock fitted with biochip transponders, vehicles equipped with sensors that alert the driver to low tire pressure, and similar human-made or natural objects that can be assigned an Internet Protocol (IP) address and transmit data through a network.
