ABSTRACT

The global higher education sector has been hit hard by the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. The complete disruption during the earliest phase of pandemic was followed by fast-track adoption of technology which enabled educational institutions to shift from physical classrooms to online classroom. The locked-down educational giants faced the heat as lesser-known Ed-Tech players became direct competitors to established institutions. Foreign education was shunned or postponed in a large scale due to prospect of losing an academic year due to frequent restrictions on international travel. Globally, large number of students belonging to economically deprived sections unable to adopt the virtual technology permanently lost an academic year. As the benefits of vaccination spreads across the world, students look to make-up for their lost opportunities and educational institutions reeling under financial losses try to recuperate lost ground. Ed-Tech players are attempting to consolidate their position and retain market share as physical classrooms in educational institutions make a comeback again.
