ABSTRACT

As the world becomes more and more linked, our challenges are also increasingly interconnected. The COVID-19 pandemic did not stop at the national borders. New dawn emerges when everyone must embrace a new normal that dictates drastic changes to our personal and social lives. The movement control order (MCO) enforcement by various countries to contain the pandemic has taken its toll and severely impacted the education sector. In brief, higher education is one of the highly impacted sectors due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The impacts bring different connotations to every layer of those involved in the system. This chapter will highlight the connotation of how finances, students, employees, and the teaching and learning process impact higher education pertaining to COVID-19. This chapter justifies the sudden transfer of education towards the rise of online teaching and learning mode and the opportunities of online education mode, mainly around the digital education method’s issues. Overall, this chapter will cover the challenges and opportunities in higher education during COVID-19.
