ABSTRACT

In the past half a century, terrorist forces have been rising, and local wars and conflicts have continued. As an important part of the transportation system, bridge structures have suffered from an increasingly severe threat of explosion. As the key stress component of the bridge structure, the pier is related to the overall safety of the bridge, so the damage to the pier under the explosion is worth special attention. This paper establishes a high-precision 3D numerical model, studies the destruction mode of RC piers under contact explosion, and divides the destruction mode of RC piers into spalling destruction and penetrating destruction. At the same time, four damage grades of RC piers under contact explosion are given, which can provide a reference for structural anti-explosion design and structural damage assessment.
