ABSTRACT

The magnetic powder, polyaluminum chloride (PAC) and polyacrylamide (PAM) composite flocculants were used to treat the hot rolling wastewater of Wuhan Iron and Steel Group. Changes in wastewater turbidity and oil content by changing the addition amount of each component of the composite flocculant are observed, and the treatment effect is discussed. The experimental results show that the optimal formulations of the composite flocculants are magnetic powder 5 mg/L, PAC 15 mg/L, and PAM 1.5 mg/L, respectively. By adding the optimized flocculant, the turbidity of the wastewater decreased from 82.6 NTU to 10.8 NTU and the oil content was decreased from 15.62 mg/L to 7.44 mg/L, respectively.
