ABSTRACT

In this paper, the combustion characteristics and heavy metal migration characteristics of sludge were studied by experimental methods, and the weight loss process of sludge under programmed temperature was evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis. The BCR continuous extraction method and the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry method were used to determine and compare the distribution of heavy metal forms in the original sludge and the sludge ash. The results show that the combustion process can be divided into two stages, devolatilization and volatile combustion. Combustion significantly reduces the proportion of heavy metals in the residue state and oxidizable state. The combustion process can reduce the environmental risk of heavy metals, but it is still high. The immobilization of heavy metals by combustion is limited.
