ABSTRACT
The processes and mechanisms of natural oxidation, contact oxidation, biological demanganization, and chemical oxidation demanganization were introduced. The common filter materials and their characteristics in waterworks were expounded, and the effect and research progress of oxidation by oxidant, adjustment of filter operation parameters, cultivation of high-quality manganese removal bacteria, and rapid start-up of the filter by artificial loading of manganese oxide were described. It is considered that it is of great significance to eliminate the mature period of filter media and prospect the future development direction.
