ABSTRACT

As an environmentally friendly pavement material, Asphalt Rubber (AR) has been shown to be an effective solution to the problem of environmental pollution caused by waste tires in the past few decades. In order to grasp the influence of the properties of rubber powder on the attributes of rubber-modified asphalt, the effects of the number of rubber powder mesh (40 meshes, 60 meshes, 80 meshes) and the dosage of rubber powder (12%, 16%, 20%) on the properties of AR were studied through the penetration, soft point, ductility and viscosity tests. The results show that with the increase of the mesh number or the content of the rubber powder, the high-temperature and low-temperature properties of AR are improved, and the viscosities of AR gradually decrease with the increase of temperature. At 180°C, only the rubber powder mesh number is 80, and the rubber powder content is 20% to meet the relevant specifications. Based on the actual situation of the project and the construction workability requirements, it is recommended that the dosage of rubber powder is 20%, and the mesh number of rubber powder is 80.
