ABSTRACT

Controlling the carbon emissions of the construction industry is of great significance for realizing the emission reduction target of China. Shaanxi Province has always been a large energy province and a pilot province of low carbon in the construction industry. This study selects the statistical data of Shaanxi Province from 2005 to 2019 as the research object and uses the carbon emission coefficient method and LMDI method to calculate and decompose the carbon emissions of the construction industry in Shaanxi Province. To explore the driving factors of provincial construction industry carbon emissions. The results show that: 1) The carbon emission of the Shaanxi construction industry is on the rise, with a growth rate of 167.56% in the calculation period. 2) Carbon emission intensity (48.18%), value utility (142.92%) and completed area (143.93%) are positive promoting factors, while energy consumption intensity (-222.35%) and construction population density (-12.68%) are negative inhibiting factors. 3) With the optimization and upgrading of the construction industry, the improvement of energy efficiency, the use of green construction technology and the macro-control of government policies, provinces can achieve the goal of reducing carbon emissions in the construction industry more effectively. The research results provide a reference for provincial decision-makers to evaluate carbon emissions, formulate corresponding policies and promote regional low-carbon development.
