ABSTRACT

An image is a collection of numbers in the form of matrix that constitutes different light intensities in different areas of the image. A secure communication of images over network is very important for different purposes. There are many ways to hide image data or transmission of image information secretly. In the present paper, we propose a secure image transmission technique based on matrix decomposition technique from linear algebra. Singular value decomposition (SVD) method factorizes a matrix into three different matrices. We factorize a gray image stored in the form of a matrix into three matrices using SVD and define a new method for secure encryption and decryption of digital image that can be used in various ways. MATLAB programming is used as an exemplary basis for coding purpose to show the utility of the proposed method. The proposed method provides a new and effective method for secure transmission of digital image over a network; therefore, it may be quite useful for many real intelligence applications.
