ABSTRACT

A smart city uses information and communication technology (ICT) to develop various service efficiencies such as government service and citizen welfare. The primary objective of a smart city is to optimize city functions and enhance economic growth and people’s quality of life through the use of smart technologies. Technology’s worth is selected by how it is used, not how much of it is presented. However, the data has a vital role to play and it is produced by the various sources in the smart city. Sensors and linked devices are used to collect and evaluate data. This information is utilized to improve city operations, manage resources, and improve inhabitants’ daily lives. Hence, data analytics are very significant to make a city smart. There are a variety of approaches and tools for managing and analyzing data to make more effective decisions in the future. In this chapter, we’ll look at different data analytics approaches and tools that can be used in smart city applications.
