ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to gain an overall knowledge about staff's attitudes towards general development of medicine and health education. It also intends to have an overview about the participants' familiarity with the Global Standards of Undergraduate Medical Education, and the accreditation of clinical medicine program conducted by the Ministry of Education of China. Eleven questions were asked with regard to these aspects in the survey. Findings are presented in this chapter, which are structured in two sections. Section 1 reports how respondents scaled the importance of including professional morality, attitude, behavior, and ethics in medicine and health education; to what extent they think that it is necessary to provide specific course and training activities on how to develop medical communication skills; to what extent they think it is important for medicine graduates-to-be to have knowledge of ethics and legislation issues in the profession; to what extent they think medical informatics courses should be provided in clinical medicine program; to what extent they think evidence-based medicine courses should be provided in clinical medicine program; to

158what extent they think that the current medicine curricula in China should be reformed; to what extent they believe that the current medicine curricula contents should be updated; to what extent they think that the current continued education system for medical practitioners should be improved; to what extent they are satisfied with the current medicine and health education system in China. Section 2 reports participants' familiarity with the Global Standards of Undergraduate Medical Education, and the accreditation of clinical medicine program conducted by the Ministry of Education. Data analyses in this chapter do not only include overall findings to the above addressed issues, but also take into consideration of the impact of gender, age, profession, job title, and the university's geographical location respectively.
