ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the specifics and problems related to the management in Service Systems (SS) without blocking of the service elements. Queuing models are applied in the classical SS or so called queuing systems with the purpose of system behavior evaluation under a dynamically changing set of users’ requests. One or more queues are defined for each service element, which are controlled regarding a specific discipline and priorities. Application of slot-based control mechanism in SSs is an established practice in the field of telecommunications such as slotted IEEE 802.15.4n, but the standards are developed either on basis of queuing models or on control models without blocking of the SEs with discovering and solving collisions. The modeling of cascade connected service points systems by the application of an ordered pair of properties – attraction rate and saturation rate provides the possibility of solving three classes of problems concerning the architecture of SS with pro-active control of resources.
